Got the ap!

Finally they got a decent ap for this thing AND I got a wireless keyboard which I'm not using right now cuz that would make sense...
We got our new truck. Claire retired and we now have Carmen. She's gorgeous and maybe I'm a bit prejudice abt that because we picked out her colors and markings ourselves. The stripes are totally custom. She's the only one just like her, until next month when someone goes in to the detail shop who's seen Carmen and says, "I want mine just like that one!"

July 9, 2012

I can't believe it's been nearly a year since I last posted. It's gone by so fast! To be fair, my computer had been running so slow that I didn't even want to use it and I have been debating getting a new one or trying to wipe this one and start over. Come to find out, all I had to do was clear the silly cache cuz I hadn't done that since I got it, duh! Anywayyyyy.... Matt and I are still enjoying life on the road. Alex will be coming home from Japan in 3 weeks and Jason was volunteering at a soup kitchen but they liked him so well that they found him a paid summer internship, YAY!! Looking forward to our family vacation next month with Matt's sister and her family. Finally got to see my baby brother, recently back from Afghanistan, and his big clan. We had a wonderful time! Matt and I are taking audio Spanish lessons together and really liking it. Hope to visit South America soon. I didn't realize how much I miss actual typing on a real keyboard, not just a touch screen with my thumbs~

Long time, no write...

Just been so busy. Jason turned 19 in March and on his birthday he got ME a dog! We now have a little miniature poodle on he truck with us. Her name is Willow and she's just the quietest, sweetest little thing you ever did meet. The lying pound we rescued her from said she was 6 but two vets have confirmed she's more like 10. I say lying because they said they were giving her a rabies shot which turned out to be a lie so we had to smuggle her out of Canada illegally a couple of times. Getting into Canada is no problem. Coming back out to the States is. Stupid Americans!

Jason graduated high school in June with all A's. He doesn't know what he's going to do next. We are giving him the summer to hang out and play chauffeur to Alex and friends then he will need to find a job.

Alex got a job at Walmart for the summer before going to Japan in the fall for study abroad for 2 semesters.

Went this weekend to Matt's 25th high school reunion. I think I had more fun than he did. I was supposed to be the designated driver....but they had really good rum! Lol! Finally got a day to just relax and do nothing.

21 years together!

So here we are on vacation in Barstow, California (just for the night) headed to Las Vegas, baby! I know it's only about 2 or 3 hours but we were tired and decided to stop here. Our reservations are for later today at the Venetian Hotel for 3 nights and tickets to see the Blue Man Group. We kind of got off to a rocky start yesterday because the stupid truck broke down again! OMFG!! This time the fifth wheel would not release the trailer at the receiver so we took it to the shop thinking it was probably an easy fix. HAHAHAHA! Silly us! It's not and today is president's day so they are closed and won't even look at it til tomorrow. Well, we had already paid for the hotel and theatre so we rented a fancy little sports jobber (silver mustang convertible..I soooo want one now!) and took off. Someone else will have to deliver the load if they ever get the stupid trailer unhooked!
So we decided to stay at this little hotel in Barstow and get liquored up so we will be relaxed today and go see some sights. My wonderful husband of 21 years, in all his infinite wisdom, thought it would be fun to go out to the bar instead of getting dinner like he said. (I was too tired to go out and I'd already eaten. I'm not eating meat right now but that's another story.) So I fell asleep and woke up 2 hours later freaking out that he'd not come back yet. Do you think he would answer the phone? Of course not. It kept going straight to voicemail. I got dressed and was about to go out looking for him, no idea where to even start and wondering if the cops were going to blame me when they found his bloody, rotting corpse in the desert, when I remembered he had mentioned they HAD a bar if we got bored and knowing him as I do, laid back down hoping that's where he was. I was so angry at the thought that I didn't even want to go down there cuz I promise I would have caused a scene and was too tired to deal with it. I figured I couldn't even report him as missing til the next day anyway. He finally staggered back in about an hour later. Sigh. This is what I signed up for all those years ago and as infuriating as he is sometimes, I wouldn't trade him for all the tea in China! Here's to a better day!

Dodge City...

...stinks to high-heaven tonight! It's nothing but a big, old cattle-killing town, anyway. And we watched them spread manure out on the fields earlier. One does get used to the smell. I suppose we'll get to a place with fresh, clean air and be like, "This place smells funny!" lol

Heading back to PA. To the cold and possibly snow. Sigh. Can we please go south now??
